The Recommended Budget for FY 2011-12 totals $230.9 million, down from $250.4
million in 2010-11. The General Fund portion of the budget is $62 million, down by
$9.2 million, or 12.9 percent from the previous year. For the first time since the
early 1990s, the Board of Supervisors approved layoffs to balance
the budget.
