The Board of Supervisors and Yuba City Council are committed to the following goals to improve flood protection for Sutter County residents:
- We are committed to work with the State and levee districts to strengthen levees
- We are committed to pursuing certifications needed to protect our "preferred status" insurance rates
- We recognize that flood protection is critical, and are committed to the hard work with many partners
- While the State is primarily responsible, we know we must fight for levee funding and that local residents will likely have to share costs
- We will pursue these goals in an open and inclusive process

Citizens Advisory Committee On Flood Protection
The Sutter County Board of Supervisors, Yuba City Council, and Live Oak City Council,
appointed a Citizens' Advisory Committee earlier this year to study the local share
funding requirement for flood protection improvements and options to meet the
requirement. The Committee met over three months and issued their report and
recommendations June 21 in the form of a letter to the Board of Supervisors
and both city councils. The Committee will continue to serve through 2008,
providing input, assistance in public education, and advice to the Board of
Supervisors and two City Councils related to flood protection financing.
Membership of the Committee is broad-based and reflects appointments
from all geographic and philosophic sectors of the community.

informed through appearances at local group meetings. The speakers have
been visiting civic organizations since spring, presenting the latest
updates on flood protection efforts, providing educational handouts,
and answering questions.
If you belong to a club or association that would like a
visit from one of our speakers, please contact Daniel Peterson
at (530) 822-7450. He will help identify your needs
