Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP)

Sutter County is leading a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) Update to their 2007 plan. The purpose of this LHMP Update is to assess risk to natural hazards, implement actions to reduce future losses, and maintain eligibility for federal mitigation funds in accordance with the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000. Partners with the County in this planning effort include the Cities of Live Oak and Yuba City and several special districts. Another benefit of this Mitigation Planning Update process is to enhance the floodplain management practice of the cities and county which can help reduce the costs of flood insurance to residents of Sutter County, Yuba City and Live Oak through participation in FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System (CRS).

For more information on this process, visit the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan link below.
