The County Clerk's duties include responsibility for recording documents affecting title of real property located in Sutter County, conducting all elections, maintaining voter registration files, issuing of marriage licenses, processing passport applications, filing fictitious business name statements, filing notary oaths, registering process servers and professional photocopiers, performing wedding ceremonies, and other related work. The County Clerk also serves as Clerk of the Board of Supervisors.
The County Clerk-Recorder-Registrar of Voter's Office is dedicated to providing correct and timely information with courtesy and respect for our customers.
To further our mission, the employees of the Clerk-Recorder-Registrar of Voter's Office are committed to the following:
- Create, process, maintain, and/or update records and documents in a timely and accurate manner to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Provide easy access to all public records and documents to enhance customer service.
- Ensure the integrity of the Sutter County election process and encourage the participation of all eligible voters in a cost-effective manner.
Effective January 1, 2018, a new Affordable Housing Fee may increase the cost of recording your Document by $75.00.

Apply for a Marriage License Online
You can now apply for a Marriage License Online - It’s easy and saves time.
Once you complete the online application you can come into the Sutter County Clerk Recorder’s Office to obtain your marriage license. The application will be stored with the Clerk Recorder for 10 business days. For fees and additional information please refer to the marriage license page.
