Precinct Officer General Information

Voting in Sutter County precincts is conducted by qualified Precinct Officers (Inspectors and Clerks) who are appointed by the Sutter County Clerk-Recorder-Registrar of Voters.
Precinct Officers are responsible for conducting the voting in strict accordance with the voting laws of the State of California
Precinct Officers Needed
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age OR be a high school student that is at least 16 years of age and in good academic standing
- Be able to read and write in fluent English
- Available to work on Election Day from 6:00am until all duties are completed
- Attend a mandatory training class prior to each election
- Have transportation to and from the training class and to the polling place on Election Day
Duties
- Prepare, open and close the polling place location
- Locate voter names on the roster
- Issue to and receive from the voters, an activator card
- Assist voters in any phase of the voting process
- Perform all required duties assigned by the Registrar of Voters or Precinct Inspector
- Be in charge of a polling place and its Precinct Board on election day
- Assign duties to Clerks on election day
- Accept and check election supplies and availability of polling place before election day
Reimbursements
- $90 for the day
- $5 for attending each training class
- Mileage reimbursement for returning supplies
- $80 for the day
- $5 for attending each training class
