Treasurer-Tax CollectorThe Treasurer and Tax Collector is an elected position (GC §27000) with the responsibility as Treasurer to receive and safeguard County, Schools’ and Special Districts’ receipts along with the management of the pooled treasury. The Treasurer is responsible for the investment of idle funds held in the pooled treasury with investment activity controlled by GC §53601 and the County’s Investment Policy. As Tax Collector (GC §27400) the department is responsible for the collection of all property taxes, both secured and unsecured along with direct assessments for schools and special districts.
The Treasurer and Tax Collector also oversees the Office of Revenue Collection.
