The California Children's Services (CCS) is a state program for children diagnosed with certain disabling medical conditions. CCS arranges, directs, and pays for medical care when these services are authorized by the program. Services can be authorized for children and young adults under 21 years of age who have eligible medical conditions and whose families are unable to pay for all or part of their care.  CCS offers medical care coordination help to connect children with specialists who know how to treat their special health needs.

Services to qualified children may include payment for doctor visits, hospital stays, surgery, physical therapy, occupational therapy, tests, X-rays, medical equipment, and medical supplies. Learn more about how children can qualify.

How to Receive Services

Referral: A referral must be made to CCS. Anyone can refer a child to CCS, including parents. It is recommended that medical reports are provided to CCS at the time of referral.

Application & Eligibility: After the referral to CCS, parents must fill out an application to determine if a child meets all four eligibility requirements (age, residency, financial, and medical).

Services Given: If CCS determines that your child is eligible, your child can then receive services.
