Sutter County Public Health (SCPH) provides the residents of our county with access to testing from public health laboratories. Testing in Sutter County is done in partnership with local health care providers and public services. These services are coordinated through the Sutter County Public Health Communicable Disease Program.

Animal Rabies Testing
The Sutter Animal Services Agency receives all bite and animal incident reports and determines if rabies testing is needed. Rabies testing at an accredited public health laboratory is coordinated through Sutter County Public Health. Human Diagnostic Laboratory Testing
Specialized disease testing at a licensed public health laboratory is available to healthcare providers in Sutter County and can be arranged through the Communicable Disease Program. This service can be used for tuberculosis outbreaks or epidemics, rare contagious diseases, or diseases that require complex testing.

Tick Identification and Testing
Tick testing for human exposures is not recommended or useful for evaluation whether a person may have been exposed to Lyme disease or other tick-borne diseases. However, sometimes people want to know and have a tick examined.
