Sutter County Website Awarded 2nd Place in Digital Counties Survey
    July 07, 2003
Based on the 2003 Digital Counties Survey organized by the Center for Digital Government, the Sutter County website tied for second (2nd) place in the under 150,000 population category. For this category, Sutter County was also the only California county ranked in the top 10.

The web development team earlier this year deployed the new County website with a new look and feel as well as providing easier navigation. As website development is a dynamic process, there will continue to be upgrades and new features as the web team moves forward with the County's vision for e-government.

The County of Sutter is honored to receive this distinction and looks forward to providing continued quality service to the Sutter County community.

    County Museum Summer Exhibits
    May 23, 2003
Our Summer Exhibits are now on display. We are showing a donation of rope used for roping cows, cowboy chaps made from buffalo, a hanger made from horseshoes, a black dress cowboy hat, an account book covering the years 1928 - 1940, and a rope for performing rope tricks.

All of these items belonged to Edward "Buck" Hannickle, an iterant cowboy and ranch hand who worked in many areas of Northern California, beginning in 1917 at age 14. He moved from place to place, often working for the Five Dot Land and Cattle Company. Buck Hannickle was also a trick roper who performed at rodeos. The items were donated by Kenneth Smith of Marysville.

    Community Workshops
    April 14, 2003

The "Sacramento Region Blueprint: Transportation/Land Use Study" is addressing these questions and many more with a series of dozens of high-tech, interactive planning workshops, to be held throughout the six-county Sacramento Region. We want to hear from you!

These workshops will allow local residents to envision how they would like to see their communities -- and their region -- grow in the future.
