New Watershed Web Portal
January 20, 2006
In simple terms, a Watershed is a topographic container that is open to the sky: an area in which all surface waters flow to a common point. Its boundaries separate one drainage area from another.

Sutter County is a “confluence” or “receptor” County where multiple watersheds merge. There are nearly 100 watershed-related projects and programs being planned or implemented in Sutter County’s watersheds!

The new site provides locations, maps and projects, and information on what you can do for your watershed.

Medicare Part D Coverage
January 17, 2006
Some individuals who are disabled or are Senior Citizens might be experiencing difficulty during the transition of pharmacy coverage from Medi-Cal to Medicare. The State of California has developed temporary coverage for those who are unable to obtain medications from Medicare. If you are a person with a disability or are a Senior Citizen and are eligible for BOTH Medicare and Medi-Cal and having difficulty obtaining medication you are advised by the California Department of Health Services to do the following:
  • Take your Medi-Cal card and Medicare drug card or Medicare acknowledgement letter to the pharmacy to assist them in billing
  • If you are concerned about the availability of this emergency drug coverage at your pharmacy please take a copy of the January 12 provider bulletin with you and show the pharmacy
  • If the pharmacy is confused they can go the web site of the State of California Medial-Cal Program and read the bulletin. This can be found at the Medi-Cal website
  • This emergency drug coverage process has been put into place to provide prescription drugs in those cases where the pharmacy is not able to obtain payments, eligibility, or the correct co-payment amount from the Medicare program
Changes in this program are anticipated as the Federal Government attempts to resolve the problems in this new effort.
